There was a tradition in Murray called "Fourth Monday" and most people are not sure how many years ago it started.  Even the old timers say that they had "Fourth Monday" in Murray for as long as they can remember.

For years people met on main street along the sidewalks of Murray businesses and the main items traded were pocket knives and staple goods.  A drive In theater was built in Murray in the 1950's and the owner allowed people to park in the theater along side the speakers for the theater and visit/conduct business.

After many years of this tradition another trade day was added on the 2nd Monday of each month.

After TV killed the drive in theater business the drive in theater was closed and people began to meet in the Murray City Park.

After several years of meeting in the city park "City Fathers" levied a fee for those with items to sell and attendance dwindled rapidly.

Eventually Trade Day in Murray ceased to exist.

Trade day is now in Mayfield, Kentucky.
